Christmas is a celebration that happens once a year on December 25th. It is celebrated because this is the day that Jesus Christ was born. The 24th of December is Christmas Eve, and the 25th of December is Christmas Day. Americans normally celebrate on the morning of the 25th. Normally, the family puts a Christmas tree in the house, and under the tree they put gifts. Parents tell their children that Santa Claus comes down the chimney to bring more gifts during the night. Everybody knows what Christmas is all about.
The Cristian world celebrates de birth of Jesus and in many countries it is celebrated in different ways. For instance: in Mexico it is celebrated with " Piñatas" but not so in any other Latin-American country. The celebrations are different: from Pastorelas, to dances, to dinners, to school programs such as Christmas programs. Gifts are exchanged among friends and family from very expensive to small tokens of love and friendship. The stores make a big business out of this celebration, it is a very profitable opportunity for their sales because almost everybody wants to give something to someone especial. Many people make their own gifts by themselves, they make many things such as gloves, caps, blouses, a scarf, it is considered a great gift if someone gives you something made by hand. Christmas is the seasion for love, and forgivness.
