When World War II ended in 1945, there were six million European Jews died. Theywere killed in the Holocaust. More than one million of the victims were  children.

Driven by a racist ideology that Jews considered "undesirable pests" worthy only oferadication, the nazis implemented genocide on an unprecedented scale.

All the Jewsof Europe were chosen for the destruction: the sick and the healthy,  
rich and poor,Orthodox religious and converts to Christianity, elders and young people, includingchildren.

However, thousands of Jewish children survived this cruel slaughter, many of  thembecause they were hidden. With identities often hidden and changed 
physically  fromthe outside  world, these youngsters faced fear, dilemmas, and  constant danger. 

His lifewas in the shadows, where any careless comment, complaint or the  murmurings  ofinquisitive neighbors could lead to the discovery and death.
