Axl Rose, born William Bruce Rose Jr. in Lafayette, Indiana, would be the eldest son of Sharon Elizabeth, 16, still in high school, and William Bruce Rose, 20, in 1962.7Her parents separated when Rose was only two. His mother remarried with Stephen L. Bailey, and changed his son's name to William Bruce Bailey. Rose, has two brothers from mother, from this second marriage, Amy and Stuart.Axl began playing piano and singing in the Pentecostal church choir at age 5.Until 17, Axl did not discover that the man who had always believed in his father, L. Stephen Bailey was actually his stepfather. Since he never saw his father until he was an adult. After learning this, Axl decides to change its Bailey last name by the one of Rose (the surname of its true father). William Rose, Sr. was murdered in Marion, Illinois, in 1984, of which Rose did not find out until years later. At that time, in 1979, he began to think of setting up a group and so formed a band in Lafayette called A.X.L (hence his stage name).Axl Rose, in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in 19908, said that his stepfather took him to the Navy Museum and sexually abused him in the bathroom. These events were repeated during his childhood, according to him. When he told his mother, he did not believe him, and told him that his stepfather was incapable of making such an atrocity. Before his 18th birthday, Axl had been arrested more than 30 times for robberies in shops and small premises, along with street riots and drunken street fights. In high school he never stood out and was a student with very bad behavior: he used to escape from school because he did not think it was a correct way to educate. He excelled in singing classes, interpreting different voices to confuse his teacher. During high school, he meets a young man named Jeffrey Isbell, better known as Izzy Stradlin, with whom he would form a friendship and form a band called Hollywood Rose. Rose said in an interview that they used to run away from school to smoke marijuana near the lake at Lafayette which he viewed as absolute freedom. Later on Izzy Stradlin would move to Los Angeles, steps that Rose herself would soon follow.7Musical career and Guns N 'Roses [edit]Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, Rose met guitarist Kevin Lawrence outside the Troubadour bar in West Hollywood and joined his band Rapidfire. They recorded a four-song demo in May 1986, which, after years of legal action, was released as an EP in 2014. After separating with Lawrence, he formed the band Hollywood Rose with his childhood friend Izzy Stradlin, who had moved to Los Angeles in 1980, and 16-year-old guitarist Chris Weber. In January 1984, the band recorded four songs: "Anything Goes," "Rocker," "Shadow of Your Love," and "Reckless Life," which was released in 2004 as "Roots of Guns N 'Roses." Later, guitarist Slash and drummer Steven Adler joined Hollywood Rose prior to the band's dissolution. Rose joined the first formation of L.A. Guns. While trying to get into the Hollywood music scene, Rose had a variety of jobs, including the post of night manager at Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard. Rose and Stradlin also smoked cigarettes for a UCLA scientific study, for $ 8 an hour. From the first moment Slash and Steven Adler were shocked by Axl's vocal power on stage, which made him a vocalist, although the relationship between the five was not the best due to huge differences which made Izzy Stradlin march to LA Guns. Then Axl would do it too, leaving the Hollywood Rose band dissolved. In March 1985, Rose and her former bandmate Tracii Guns formed Guns N 'Roses by merging their respective bands Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns. In June, after several changes of formation, the band was formed by Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich and Rob Gardner. Just a few weeks later Tracii Guns would leave the band due to differences with Rose so that Slash would become the new guitarist, Ole Beich and Rob Gardner in 3 weeks also would leave the band, after its debut, thus occurs the arrival of Duff McKagan and Steven Adler to Guns N 'Roses. The lineup now comprised Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Steven Adler and Duff McKagan. The band with this formation made debut in the Troubadour and touched in the circuit of clubs of Los Angeles. The band attracted the attention of several major record labels before signing with Geffen Records in March 1986. The following December they released the EP of four songs: a Suicide with UZI Suicide .
