With the invention of Paul Nipkow's Nipkow Disc, the first breakthrough is made to make television a relevant communicational medium. The change that would bring television as we know it today was the invention of the iconoscope of Philo Taylor Farnsworth and Vladimir Zvorykin. This would give way to completely electronic television, which had a greater definition of image and lighting itself. The first public television broadcasts were broadcast by the BBC in England in 1927 and CBS and NBC in the United States in 1930.
