LABOR DAY
Labor Day, is celebrated every year on May 1, it is an international date, which honors the labor rights achieved by the world labor movement.
The day was created in honor of the struggle of the working class, who, through protests, achieved a reduction of the working day to eight hours.
In Mexico, Labor Day has been celebrated since 1913, after the Casa del Obrero Mundial reached consensus with other workers' organizations and decreed the date. Article 123 of the Political Constitution, together with the regulation of the right to work.
According to the General Archive of the Nation, starting in 1923, the date was declared as a mandatory day of rest by the government of Álvaro Obregón, although it would not be until 1925 when the celebration would be held officially.
On this day, marches and rallies are organized by union representatives, in which new salary adjustments are demanded for workers.
