2was ausable the sort of spy fowler hay expectad? why?

1) They're meeting because Fowler is a young and romantic writer so he must need to know some thing about spies to write a new book or whatever we writes.
2)no it wasn't because fowler expected mysterious figures in the night, crack of guns and poison in wines, and not just meet an old men in a hotel room.

To get information about a spy life and job, Fowler met Ausable, an old an fat man. They both met in a hotel but besides the meeting, Ausable was expecting a top secret file. But some man that was also interested in Ausable's file barked in their room and threatened him with a gun to give him the file. Ausable said that that always happened and they entered from the balcony and at the same moment there's a knock in the door and Ausable said that was a policeman to inspect his room, as seeing this opportunity as Max's scape he said that he would hide in the balcony until the room is clear from the police. But happens that the knock was just the waiter and Max had hidden in a non existent balcony
