Traffic signs are signs with useful information for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
They are divided in three groups:
- Regulatory or prescriptive
- Warning signs
- Informative signs.
REGULATORY OR PRESCRIPTIVE
These are divided into: prohibition, restriction and priority.
Prohibition means that some actions can not be done.
- Restriction: regulate the limits of speed, parking, and use of lanes.
- Priority: show the priority over who should go first to a corner or stretch of road.
WARNING SIGNS
They are grouped into: maximum danger and physical.
- Maximum danger mean that have to be careful because there is dangers around.
- Physical: symbolize certain characteristics of the route, example a curve is closing, there is a bridge close.
INFORMATIVE SIGNS.
We have two kinds: Urban nomenclature and tourist information and services.
- Urban nomenclature give information like distance to any place, name of street, identify rural areas and routes.
- Tourist information and services, give information like where to find payphones, restaurants, gas and service stations, this is very useful information for tourist or people that are not from the zone.
