En este ensayo corto, presento datos verídicos históricos y actuales y mi punto de vista. No se pretende ofender ni atacar a ninguna religión. No pretendo llevar a cabo una discusión teológica sobre los diferentes aspectos que conforman la religión debido a que no parto de la premisa de que Dios es un ser supremo realmente existente que ha creado a los hombres y al mundo, sino de la premisa contraria: de que la religión, sus postulados básicos, sus imágenes sobre Dios, sus relatos, sus cultos y rituales prácticos e igualmente sus preceptos morales son fenómenos forjados por la actividad sensible y espiritual de los seres humanos es decir, son fenómenos, así como todos los demás fenómenos socioculturales e histórico que los hombres han engendrado.
A mediados del siglo XVIII, Johan Joachim Winckelmann, historiador del arte antiguo y fundador de la arqueología, afirmaba en Roma que en el siglo XIX no existiría más el Papa ni quedaría un solo sacerdote católico en el mundo. Hace cien años, los positivistas franceses, consecuentes con las ideas que tenían sobre el desarrollo de la humanidad, pensaban que los progresos de la técnica y el creciente aumento del saber traerían de modo inevitable la desaparición de lo que ellos llamaban la mentalidad teológica. Según los positivistas, esa desaparición era cuestión de poco tiempo. Estaban ellos seguros de que en el siglo XX las religiones producto de un falso conocimiento, habrían dejado de existir en todas partes, extinguiéndose sin pena ni gloria, desplazadas por la ciencia y por la técnica. La idea de Dios se esfumaría en las penumbras de la historia junto con otros viejos engendros de la mente.
La religión es un conjunto de postulados, imágenes y relatos verbales y/o escritos con sus correspondientes prácticas culturales y rituales sobre el origen divino de los hombres y el mundo. El sentido general de estos postulados, imágenes y relatos es el de que los hombres puedan unirse, integrarse o enlazarse al ser que alguna vez les dio vida a los primeros hombres, a sus antepasados originales. Y así darles la doble posibilidad de unirse o integrarse a ese ser que le dio vida a sus antepasados y la de integrarse o unirse entre sí como descendientes comunes de esos antepasados originales creados por él. Y la mejor manera de vivir integrados a él es atribuirle una vida permanente o eterna para que pueda estar siempre presente en sus vidas, pues solo si los hombres sienten que está presente en sus vidas, que es real en el curso temporal de sus existencias, pueden unirse a él. Y al sentir en común esa presencia en sus vidas se unen entre sí a su alrededor; hecho que aseguran, refuerzan y renuevan periódicamente rindiéndole juntos culto, donde le manifiestan su veneración y practicando reunidos también y de manera regular determinados ritos en los que le ofrecen lo mejor de sí mismos o de sus bienes. Esto significa que el ser divino original, al ofrecerles la posibilidad de integrarse alrededor suyo, les da la posibilidad de integrarse a la vida eterna que posee; es decir, les ofrece la posibilidad de suprimir alguna vez de sus vidas lo que les falta para poder vivir, la carencia de las condiciones y de los medios necesarios para asegurar de manera permanente esa vida, y así conservarla de manera indefinida en el tiempo. Como es un ser pleno y completo, un ser que carece de carencias debido a que siempre está presente en todos los instantes del tiempo, le ofrece a los hombres la posibilidad de acceder a esa plenitud propia de su existencia. Esta posibilidad que les ofrece el ser divino de integrarse con él es, entonces, en el fondo, la posibilidad de vivir siempre sin los sufrimientos que naturalmente les provoca esas faltas y carencias que tienen en sus vidas reales, es decir, de vivir libres de los sufrimientos que naturalmente nunca desean o anhelan vivir o padecer.
En lo personal, creo en Dios pero no creo en la religión, porque me parece que en la actualidad se ve que es para oprimir, reprimir y controlar a los fieles y en el pasado también fue así, según la información plasmada en libros de autores importantes. Creo más en la frase “hace mas falta Dios que religión” y también que la religión no salvará a las personas.
