In the future, technology will be at the center of
everything.
Take transport for example. By 2030, people
won’t drive cars, they’ll talk to them and the cars
will obey instructions. “Intelligent” roads will
pass information into cars about driving
conditions. If there’s a jam on the freeway, the
freeway will tell the driver and he or she’ll be
able to avoid it! If people drive too fast, their
cars will slow down automatically. If you forget
to pay your car tax, your car will remind you!
Refrigerators will read the “use by” date on our
food containers, and remind people when to go
shopping. If you forget to take your medicine,
the “intelligent” medicine jar will remind you.
Your clothes will activate special advertisements
on the street and in stores. When you walk past,
they will show you a personal choice of clothes
designed especially for you.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? But if “big business”
knows everything about you, then you will lose
your privacy forever. Everything you do will be
monitored and controlled. How does this sound
now?
