Linda: Hi, Carrie! I haven't seen you since last November, where did you go on winter break?
Carrie: Hi, Linda. I went to my grandma's house about two weeks ago. We spent Christmas there. It was in California, so we didn't have my desired snow, but we did go to the beach. We went surfing and swimming, and I met a cute girl, who I befriended wit.
Linda: Oh, really? What was her name?
Carrie: Her name is Aubrey. I introduced her to my brother and they fell in love instantly. We spent New Year with her, she opened up the champagne.
Linda: That's so nice to hear! I, as you know, don't celebrate Christmas. But we did spend a nice Hanukkah at the beginning of December. We lit candles with my family and had a delightful evening. However, my cat got sick and we had to get her to the vet as an emergency. I went out with my friends on New Year though. It was pretty nice.
Carrie: Good for you, Linda! How's your cat now?
Linda: She died.
