Usamos el pasado perfecto ( had + participio pasado) para hablar sobre el tiempo en el pasado, hasta cierto punto. Lo usamos para:
- Mostrar el orden de dos eventos pasados.
- También podemos usar el pasado perfecto seguido de before para mostrar que una acción no se realizó o estaba incompleta cuando ocurrió la acción en pasado simple.
- A menudo usamos los adverbios already, still, just, ever o never con el pasado perfecto.
Ejemplos del uso del past perfect
- Had Jim ever flown before his flight last week? Yes, he had.
- Had your sister eaten breakfast before she left? No, she had not.
- James said he had already seen the movie last year.
- I got lost because I had forgotten to bring a map.
- They hadn´t studied English before last year.
- She had lived in Leeds before she moved to London.
- The baby had fallen asleep before eight o'clock.
- I had not thought of that question before.
- Sue got wet because she hadn't brought an umbrella.
- he had owned his car for a year before he sold it.
- I didn´t notice that the traffic lights had turned red.
- He had ordered rice but the waiter served him soup.
