So far, we've only used the standard form o, y = ax2 + bx + c of a quadratic equation to graph a parabola. Using the standard form, we can find the vertex and factor or use the Quadratic Formula to find the x− intercepts. The intersection form of a quadratic equation is y = a (x − p) (x − q), where a is the same value has the same value as the standard form and p and q are the x-intercepts. This form looks very similar to a factored quadratic equation.
Example A
Transform y = 2x2 + 9x + 10 to intersection form and find the vertex. Graph the parabola.
