Levels of morphological organization

Due to its morphological organization and according to the degree of complication of the vegetative body, there are three levels of organization (artificial):

bullet Protophytes: unicellular or incoherent aggregates of unicellular.

Prokaryotes, some representatives of algae and fungi, consist of a single cell, which can reach a high degree of complexity.

After division, daughter cells can remain attached and cell aggregates called cenobia.

bullet Talophytes: multicellular, cellular aggregates with division of labor between cells. They have a TALO, a multicellular vegetative body with specialization of cells or groups of cells (tissues) but NOT differentiated in a vascularized axis, leaves and roots and does NOT have mechanisms for regulating its water content (poikilohydric).

Green algae, lower fungi, lichens and Bryophytes are considered thalophytes.

bullet Cormophytes: vegetative body organized in roots, stems and leaves, with highly differentiated tissues and with the ability to regulate their water content (homeodids). They are ferns and seed plants (Gymnosperms and Angiosperms)
