La cada vez más difícil situación que enfrentan
los Estados Unidos en Afganistán ha llevado al
surgimiento de un creciente interés por conocer
y ahondar en lo que fue la experiencia soviética
en Afganistán, con el fin de identificar problemas
comunes y sacar conclusiones que permitan comprender la situación que enfrentan los estadounidenses actualmente. En este sentido el presente
artículo es un documento de reflexión que busca
presentar y analizar las razones que llevaron a
la intervención soviética, así como las enormes
complejidades del escenario enfrentado por la
URSS durante la guerra. Con ello, se busca exponer no solo lo que fue la experiencia soviética
sino también las dificultades que se enfrentan en

The increasingly difficult situation faced by the
U.S. in Afghanistan has led to the emergence of
a growing interest in learning and expanding on
what was the Soviet experience in Afghanistan,

un momento dado para identificar y comprender el gran número de actores, organizaciones,
hechos y motivaciones que convergieron para
dar forma a esta confrontación. Además del
legado de esta confrontación, que perdura hasta
nuestros días, la guerra afgano-soviética ilustra
con claridad los límites que actores de diverso
tipo deben enfrentar en escenarios como estos,
que tienden a ser cada vez más comunes en el
mundo actual.
