UTOPIAS AND DYSTOPIAS
In speculative fiction, utopia and dystopia are two opposite, imaginary worlds
created to depict perfect and imperfect versions of the future, while criticizing
current society, its government, ways of living, and conception of progress.
A utopia is a futuristic, “ideal world, a prosperous society where problems don't
exist and people live in peace, harmony, well-being, and happiness. On the other
hand, a dystopia is a futuristic, flawed world whose inhabitants deal with serious
problems such as poverty, war, sickness, misery, and sadness. On the next page,
you will find a summary of three of the most famous utopic/dystopic books of
all time.
