I definitely agree to some extent. Dreams are a series of thoughts, images and sensations that occur while we sleep. They are highly influenced by what we do during the day, and the thoughts that roam our minds before we go to sleep. And nightmares, can be a reflection or a representation of our anxiety, stress, and trauma. Meanwhile, watching violent or frightening films before going to sleep could potentially give us nightmares, because these types of TV programs will trigger our fight or flight response. Dreams are our way of expressing and processing emotions. Therefore, if you watch a scary movie, it is likely that a certain scene of the film (that could have scared you) will remain stuck in your mind, and you’ll dream of it at night because your brain takes it as a learning opportunity to avoid you being scared of it in the future.
