Te explico; en el pasado continuo, el was va con el I (Yo), She (Ella), He (Él), e It (Eso - esto). Por otro lado, el were va con You (Tú), We (Nosotros), y They (Ellos). Para ayudarte podés usar estos ejemplos:

  • I was eating cheese yesterday. (Yo estaba comiendo queso ayer)
  • She was playing tennis at the club. (Ella estaba jugando al tenis en el club)
  • You were reading a very interesting book. (Tú estabas leyendo un libro muy interesante)
  • We were at Spain last month. (Nosotros estabamos en España el mes pasado)

Para hacer preguntas sólo tenés que cambiar el was o were y ponerlo adelante, de esta forma:

  • Was I eating cheese yesterday?
  • Was she playing tennis at the club?
  • Were you reading an interesting book?
  • Were we at Spain last month?

Podés responder acortadamente o de manera completa, así:

  • Yes, I was. // Yes, I was eating cheese yesterday.

Si la respuesta es negativa, contestás con el was not o were not:

  • No, she wasn't // No, she wasn't playing tennis at the club.
  • No, we weren't // No, we weren't at Spain last month.

El  "n't" es una forma de acortar el "not".
