James Lane is an evil man who lives on the outskirts of London, works as a lawyer for the men who rob the people. He grew up as a poor boy until a mafia lord adopted him and incorporated him into his dealings when he was only eight years old, grew up between one mafia and another as a currency. After several years he finally studied to be a lawyer and defend the men he had grown up with, he owed it to him.
At the age of twenty-one, he fell in love with one of the daughters of a more dangerous Russian mafia kingpin in London, worked for the young woman's father and got her to win a complicated trial so he married the girl.
At the age of twenty-two he was killed by the men he sent to jail for the Russian kingpin.
