1. Read the text
New York is located on the Atlantic Coast of the United State of America. It was first settled as
“New Amsterdam” in 1625 by the Dutch. Today, New York city is an important commercial and
banking centre wich includes Wall Street. Among its very impotant skyscrapers is the Empire
State building.
One of the most interesting museums is on Ellis Island which served for the entry point for
many inmigrants who passed through New York city at the turn of ten century.
I’m now 42 years old and I have lived in New York since I was born, My grandfather had come
from England in 1904 and he formed here his family. My mother still lives here but my father
moved to Wisconsin, a quieter city, four years ago.
In this moment, I ́m on the bus, I’m travelling through New York. I ́m going back home after
work.
