Giles Corey refused to give his answer to the charges against him accused of witchcraft against his wife. While they were torturing him, his only words were: "More weight".
The Law established that persons who refused to give a declaration had to be subjected to torture "comb forte et dure", until their declaration was accepted. A large number of rocks were placed on it over Giles Corey, for two days until his death.
