Absolutism as a doctrine and practice of power, contributed to the reinstatement of the social order disrupted by the socio-economic and cultural transformations promoted by the Industrial Revolution, because it again provided a unique and unquestionable (in theory) command structure to society, in need of a firm pulse in the execution of power imposed by order. It is pertinent to note that social instability, the product of mass displacement to industrial cities, the rise of the proletarian class, as well as the specific weight of the bourgeoisie before the feudal structure in dismantling, is also a consequence of the French Revolution.
