Hansel and Gretel were two very poor children who lived with their humble father and stepmother near a thick forest. As the food was very scarce, one day the selfish stepmother convinced the father to take them to the middle of the forest and abandon them to their fate.
Hansel and Gretel had listened to the conversation and when they were taken with deceit they left crumbs of bread on the way to be able to return home. Unfortunately, when they tried, they realized that the birds had eaten the crumbs left on the road. Lost in the forest, they spent the night trembling with cold and fear for the ferocious animals.
At dawn, they saw a beautiful bird that showed them a path. They followed him and came to a little house decorated with tasty sweets and chocolate cookies. But upon entering they were trapped by a witch who fed eating children. When they saw that both of them were very skinny, he fed them some days to make them fat. When the day came to eat them, Gretel took advantage of the fact that the witch approached the oven to push it and close the door.
Immediately Gretel freed Hansel and together they collected the jewels and pearls that the witch kept. They ran without direction until they found a lagoon where a white swan helped them cross to the other shore. Very close they found their house and hugged their dad. He told them that the stepmother had died, he apologized for leaving them and he swore to them that they would always be together in the future. Then the children opened their bags and showed the treasures they brought. Everyone embraced and from then on they lived without suffering.
