Once upon a time there was a pretty village in the middle of a leafy and colorful forest inhabited by happy animals. Each year, with the fall of the first snows and the arrival of the stars of light, they gathered around the Great Tree to prepare Christmas and meet one of the most anticipated news of the season. The youngest children participated in the traditional Ice Race, which took place on the frozen lake and went every afternoon to the rehearsals of Señorita Ciervo, in charge of the choir that cheered up all the corners of the forest with her carols, selected a piece from among all those sent by the aspiring animals to be chosen to fill the hearts of the inhabitants of the forest with peace, but that year:  Welcome everyone to the preparatory meeting for Christmas, said Lord Owl perched on the most robust branch of the Great Tree. This year, the choice of the work has been very close because all the proposals were of great quality, but you had to choose a winner. So without further delay we give a round of applause to Mr. Rabbit, author of the winning play 'Save the Forest'.

The next day, at the agreed time, the selection began. Being a musical, the tests focused on singing and dancing skills, as they were essential requirements. The work told the story of a forest ranger who had to save the flora of an evil woodcutter, obsessed with cutting down a thousand-year-old tree and destroying everything that came his way. In his struggle to preserve the natural environment, the forester counted the inestimable help of a sunflower and a lily that put their cunning at the service of the noble cause. After several hours, the papers were distributed as follows: Mr. Bear would act as forester, Castor would be the vile woodcutter, Mrs. Pata would represent the sunflower, and Mrs. Lynx, the lily. At first everything was going great, the actors were happy with their papers and they worked hard to perfect their performances, until the worst of the ghosts appeared: envy.  Mr. Rabbit, I think Castor should have a little more prominence. The woodcutter is full of nuances and we could create spectacular special effects that would leave the audience speechless, said Mr. Búho in one of the essays. Yes, you may be right and should touch up the text to give Castor more weight. We can make a play of light and shadow each time it appears and enhance its role. At these words Castor was very happy, because he was very excited about the work, but Bear did not see it with the same eyes. If Castor was given more prominence, that meant that he would stop being the absolute protagonist, and that did not like anything.  The tension on the stage could be cut and the disaster was not long in coming, and during the rehearsal of the final scene, which gathered all the actors on stage to interpret the final number, they began to push each other with such verve that of the decoration broke.

Order, order, but good, what happens?  You have spoiled the work of several days and of all those who have collaborated in the staging. There are only two days left for Christmas Eve, but if we had more time, I would throw you all out of the work. The rehearsal is over for today. Rabbit was mad, he did not understand anything. But how could they fight over such a thing? The next day the inhabitants woke up witnessing a terrible event: the snow had disappeared and the stars of light had gone out. How was it possible? Scared, the animals gathered around the Great Tree, in search of the wise advice of Mr. Búho. Dear inhabitants of the forest, the spirit of Christmas is gone, said Owl. And how can we make him come back? Mrs. Squirrel asked scared.  We're going to run out of Christmas, you heard a wolf cub say.Today is a very sad day.  The snow has melted, the stars have stopped showing and the play is in danger. Bear was listening behind a bush and was afraid to leave because he knew he was the trigger for the situation, but he had to be brave and face the consequences of his own actions, so he decided to leave.

- So sorry. If there is a culprit, that is me. I was blinded by envy. What can I do to correct my error?

No, you do not have to carry the blame you alone, I have also contributed to my bad behavior. If it's any good, I'm sorry too, lamented Castor.

Look, it's snowing! a voice shouted enthusiastically.

Yes and it seems that the stars shine again in the sky. The spirit of Christmas is back! It was heard.

That year, Christmas was lived with great intensity in the forest, after all they were about to lose it forever. They had learned the lesson and now they knew that envy blinded and had very negative effects that could not be controlled.

So that they would not forget they never built a large wooden plaque that hung from the Great Tree. In it you could read the following inscription: "The most valuable treasure you have is friendship, take care of it every day and it will grow".
