Ethnic and cultural characteristics of Venezuela

  Venezuela is characterized as the result of the mixture of three main ethnic groups: American Indians, Europeans and sub-Saharan Africans. At present the mestizos represent half of the population. In the country the official language is Spanish, the religion that predominates is Catholic and they have a very varied gastronomy. Its traditional music is known as Joropo and the main instruments are harp, cuatro and maracas.
