Esta preposición se utiliza cuando hablamos de momentos precisos. Por ejemplo: at 3:00 p.m., at 4:30 a.m., at noon, at sunrise, at the moment, at bedtime, etc.
Hay algunas expresiones fijas con las que utilizamos la preposición “at”. Estas expresiones son: at night, at the weekend, at Christmas, at Easter, at the same time, at present.
Aquí tiene algunos enunciados para que entienda mejor su uso:
The meeting will be at 5 o’clock.
I always go to bed at midnight.
We travel at the weekend.
All the family is sharing at Christmas.
I’m washing the car. At the same time, my husband is making the dinner.

La preposición “in” la utilizamos al hablar de largos periodos de tiempo. Por ejemplo de meses, años y siglos: in May, in summer, in 1992, in the past, in the last century.
Además, hay algunas expresiones fijas que se usan con esta preposición. Esas expresiones son: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening.
A continuación le presento algunos ejemplos para que se guíe mejor:
My birthday is in October.
Here in winter, it’s too cold.
My father started working in 1997.
The meeting will take place in the afternoon.

Finalmente, esta preposición la usamos al hablar de días y fechas: on Saturday, on 7th October, on 5th March 2010, on my birthday, on Christmas day, etc.
Otras expresiones en las que comúnmente usamos “on” son las siguientes: on Friday morning, on Tuesday afternoon, on Sunday evening.
