• Size and Form
It measures from 43 to 55 cm and weighs from 460 to 660 g. Both sexes similar. It has bright yellow beak with the top and the black tip, long and sharp tail. Above it is brown with brow margins on the back. The rest of the body is mainly fawn with the sides of the head with blackish points as well as the chest and sides but in these last parts with thicker stippling. It has the center of the belly of white color and in flight it shows a greenish black wing espé. The female has the darker specimen and the lower parts a little whiter. Young people have stretch marks on the chest and lower parts.
• Similar species
Similar to the Pico de Gallo Duck (Anas acuta) but this species has a dark gray bill. The Pato Paramuno (Anas flavirostris) is much smaller and has a dark beak.

Mide de 43 a 55 cm y pesa de 460 a 660 g. Ambos sexos similares. Tiene pico amarillo brillante con la punta superior y negra, cola larga y afilada. Por encima es marrón con márgenes en la parte posterior. El resto del cuerpo es principalmente cervatillo con los lados de la cabeza con puntos negruzcos, así como el pecho y los lados, pero en estas últimas partes con un punteado más grueso. Tiene el centro del vientre de color blanco y en vuelo muestra un ala de color negro verdoso. La hembra tiene el espécimen más oscuro y las partes inferiores un poco más blancas. Los jóvenes tienen estrías en el pecho y en las partes inferiores.
