The Dobson Family is deciding where to go on vacation. The whole family sits down one Saturday morning to come up with good ideas on where they could go during the summer.
James immediately suggests that the whole family go to Orlando, Florida. He loves visiting Disneyworld and Universal Studios. Ariana agrees immediately. “Let’s go to Disneyworld!” she says. Mark and Daniela aren’t too thrilled with the idea. “We have already been to Orland twice” says Mark. “Let’s go someplace else. How about St. Augustine? It is a very interesting place and has some wonderful historic sites. We can all learn something there.”
“That sounds like a wonderful idea!” says Daniela. “I’ve always wanted to visit St. Augustine.” The children are not too excited about the idea at all. St. Augustine doesn’t sound like fun at all.
“Paris sounds like a very romantic city” says Ariana. “How about Paris?” We could visit the Eiffel Tower and go shopping along the Champs Elysees. It would be fun! Please, please, please can we go to Paris?”
“I’m sorry dear, but a trip to Paris is just too expensive, especially during the summer. How about California? It’s a beautiful state and there is plenty to see and do, for kids as well as for adults.”
“Lo siento querida, pero un viaje a París es demasiado costoso, especialmente durante el verano. ¿Qué tal California? Es un estado hermoso y hay mucho para ver y para hacer, para niños así como también para adultos.”
Ariana screams “Please, no! I hear there are earthquakes all the time in California. I would be too scared throughout the trip to enjoy anything.” “I think you're exaggerating a little” says Mark with a smile “but let’s not go if you won’t feel comfortable”.
Then Daniela gets an idea. “Why don’t we go to Colombia? It has been a long time since I’ve been back home and the kids have never been there.” Mark agrees. “That sounds like a great idea! That way the kids will have a chance to see where you grew up an meet some more of their Colombian relatives.” The kids are delighted. “Let’s go to Colombia this time!”
