Active voice: The dog ate the food.

In the passive voice,something(an action) is done to the subject of the sentence.

In the active voice,the subject of the sentence performs the action.

Examples:
Active:
I went to school.
I washed my hair.
I ate breakfast.
I walked the dog.
I rode my bike.

Passive:
The dog was taken for a walk.
The breakfast was eaten.
The bike was ridden.
My hair was washed.
The book was read.
