Comparatives:

I am older than she is.

He is faster than me.

They tend to end in -er. Ej. Better,faster,happier,sadder,cleaner. The comparatives are used to compare two or more things and state that one of those things is better than the other. That cat is prettier than that dog. 
In some instances,You can also use "more" instead of the ending -er.
Ej: That painting is more beautiful than that vase. or That painting is prettier than that vase.
Superlatives:

A dog is the best pet you can have.

This athlete is the fastest in the world.

They tend to end -est and are used to make comparisons between two or more objects and state that one object is the most superior to the other/is the best.Ej. That car is the most expensive. That house is the biggest.
You can also say "Most" in some instances instead of using the -est ending.
Ej:That house is the most expensive one in our neighborhood.
The price of the house is the highest.
