Para formar el pasado simple debemos colocar el sujeto más el verbo en pasado más el predicado. 
- She washed the dishes
- She wanted to be taller
- Carla wished for a new house
- Peter kissed Sabrina yesterday
- Jorge pulled a pair of shoes out of the closet
Mientras que el pasado continuo, por otra parte, se usa para acciones que comenzaron en el pasado y se quiere enfatizar la duración de las mismas. Se forma con el sujeto, el verbo to be en pasado y un verbo con la terminación ing. Ejemplos: 
- I was talking to Ana when you called
- I was going to but I couldn't
- You were walking yesterday morning
- We were sitting by the trees
- Peter was singing to me

PASADO SIMPLE:
-i visited my Grandma last week
-she bought a new pencil
-he broke a lamp
-they won the match
-we ate at the restaurant
PASADO CONTINUO:
-i was swimming in the Pool when he broke the bike
-she was talking with her friends when you opened the door
-he was sleeping when you called him
-they were watching the movie when she dropped the popcorn
-we were eating when she broke her phone
