What are the two processes used by producers? The expression refers to the production of organic matter from inorganic matter, as performed by autotrophic organisms. The biomass generated primarily is used by the producers themselves to obtain energy or to build their structures. A part goes to the primary consumers (approximately 10%), the so-called herbivores or better phytophages, which in turn rework the molecules to make their own components, so we call them secondary producers, or degrade them (catabolism) to obtain Energy. The energy dissipates as the organic matter circulates through the different levels of the trophic chain, while the atoms return to form inorganic molecules such as CO2 and NO3- (nitrate ion).  to get energy
