Mind

I have a lot on my mind. (Tengo mucho que pensar. Mind = mente)

Do you mind if I leave a little bit early? I have a doctor’s appointment. (Do you mind = ¿Te importa?)

No, of course I don’t mind. (I don’t mind = una forma cortés de decir que algo no te importa o no te molesta)

Water

La frase give someone a ring es un poco ambigua ya que puede ser literal (regalar un anillo a alguien) o figurativa (llamar a alguien por teléfono). En todo caso, el contexto normalmente lo deja claro.
