The Platypus
The scientific name of the Platypus is Ornithorhyncus anatinus. It is a mammal, it diet is carnivores. Its size 15 in for the head and body, tail 5 in. It weights about 3 lbs.
The animal is described as a hodgepodge of more familiar species: the duck, beaver, and otter. Males are venomous.
They hunt underwater. Their eyes and ears  are covered by folds of skin to prevent water from entering, and the nostrils close with a watertight seal.
They are from Australia .
Platypus reproduction is nearly unique. It is one of only two  mammals that lay eggs.
A mother produces one or two eggs and keeps them warm by holding them between her body and her tail. The eggs hatch in about ten days.
