He was born on 21 August 1988 in Warsaw, Poland. Son of Krzysztof Lewandowski, professional footballer, and Iwona Lewandowska, professional volleyball player. He began playing football in the lower categories of the Partyzant de Leszno where his father played. Lover of the cakes, his mother bought one for each goal that it obtained. In the following season, 2011/12, was chosen best player of the year in his country. This year they managed to win the league again, in which Robert managed to score twenty-two goals, and also conquered the DFB-Pokal, against Bayern Munich by five to one, of which three were his. The following year he surpassed the record like the first player of the history of Borussia to mark in twelve consecutive league parties. That year they managed to reach the final of the Champions League, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
