Konrad Zuse (22 June 1910 - 18 December 1995) was a German engineer and a pioneer of computing. Its most outstanding accomplishment was to finish the first computer controlled by programs that worked, the Z3 in 1941. This may have been the "first computer", although there are discrepancies in this sense because, if you consider some subtleties, such as the Zuse's machine was not general purpose, it might not be. He also designed a high-level programming language, Plankalkül, supposedly in 1945, although it was a theoretical contribution, since language was not implemented in his life and had no direct influence on the early developed languages. He also founded the first computer company in 1946 and built the Z4, which in 1950 became the first computer to be marketed. Due to World War II, Zuse's initial work went unnoticed outside Germany. Possibly the first documented influence of Zuse on a foreign company was the acquisition of patents by IBM in 1946.
There is a replica of the Z3 and Z4 at the Deutsches Museum in Munich and another replica of the Z3 in an art museum in Karlsruhe, the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM), which is the world's only interactive media art museum.
