the thirteen colonies decided it was time to get  indepentent from britain, this meant they will be not longer part of the british colony and will fight for freedom, then the continental congress named five leaders to write down why are they declaring their independence. on july 4, 1776 the congress finally adopted the final version of the declaration of independence, then copies whre sent to all the colonies, whwre it was published in the newspaper and read aloud and a copy was also sent to the british government
