Gustavo Cerati nació el 11 de agosto de 1959 en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. A los nueve años inició sus estudios de guitarra, a los doce años conformó un trío con el cual se presentaba en fiestas particulares, participó en los eventos que se realizaban en el colegio religioso al que concurría, y llegó a dirigir el coro de la iglesia.
Estudió publicidad en la Universidad del Salvador, donde en 1982 conoció a Zeta Bosio. Más tarde y gracias a un contacto hecho por su hermana, Gustavo Cerati y Zeta Bosio conocieron a su colega Charly Alberti. El trío formó la banda Soda Stereo.
Un año después los tres empezaron a tocar en bares y locales del circuito roquero de Buenos Aires. A comienzos de 1984 ya eran figuras conocidas en el circuito roquero y antes de lanzar su primer álbum sus canciones ya sonaban en la radio de Buenos Aires.
Durante el auge de Soda Stereo, Cerati se animó con algunos proyectos independientes en forma simultánea, y luego de editar 14 álbumes se separaron amistosamente. Antes de retirarse hicieron una gira mundial, que incluyó a México, Venezuela y Chile. Finalizaron el periplo en el estadio River Plate de Buenos Aires.

Gustavo Cerati was born on August 11, 1959 in the city of Buenos Aires. At the age of nine he began his guitar studies, at the age of twelve he formed a trio with which he performed at private parties, participated in the events that took place at the religious college where he attended, and eventually led the choir of the church .
He studied advertising at the University of Salvador, where in 1982 he met Zeta Bosio. Later and thanks to a contact made by his sister, Gustavo Cerati and Zeta Bosio met his colleague Charly Alberti. The trio formed the band Soda Stereo.
A year later the three began to play in bars and local of the rocky circuit of Buenos Aires. At the beginning of 1984 they were already known figures in the roquero circuit and before releasing their first album their songs already sounded in the radio of Buenos Aires.
During the boom of Soda Stereo, Cerati was encouraged with some independent projects simultaneously, and after editing 14 albums were separated amicably. Before retiring they made a world tour, that included to Mexico, Venezuela and Chile. They completed the tour at the River Plate stadium in Buenos Aires.
