Hi, my name’s Rose. I was born in 1936 and I lived with my family in a village nearBristol. My father was a fruit farm advisor and my mother was a housewife. My Mother taught me French and English.

During the war, most people didn’t use to have much food. We were lucky as we had lots of land to grow our own vegetables also we had chickens, rabbits and pigs. My Mother and I used to eat lentils every day, which I hated! I still can’t stand them now.

I remember, we didn’t have a television. Instead, we listened to the radio, we played cards and board games, and played with friends outside. We couldn’t really afford many holidays – people didn’t in those days.

I left home when I was 15 years old because I wanted to study college! Then at 25 years old I started my own business, at 30 I got married and I had two children. I have beautiful memories; I really love remembering the good old days!!!
