A phrasal verb is a phrase that results from the combination of a verb
and a preposition, an adverb, or both. The function of a phrasal verb
is to convey a meaning different from the literal meaning of the individual
words that form it

mean using the context.
I enjoy working out at the gym every night after work.

Working out is exercising, it's what you do in the gym
-warm up is what do have to do before start exercising to avoid muscle injuries
-try out is like apply for something or test something
-the athletes were so tired that some of them did not make it, they fell out due to exhaustion
- Andy punch so hard to the opponent that he was unable to contine the fight and Andy won
gives up means no continue with something
