It begins with the presence of an electric charge. The electric charge can be either negative or positive, produces an electric field. 

Quarks are the smallest particle of matter. They exist in atoms. 

Neutrons and Protons are in the nucleus of an atom.

Actually they don't move around. The original Bohr model of an atoms shows them moving around the nucleus but Quantum mechanics says they don't really move. They are placed on probability distribution. 

Energy is moved through a conductor to a generator and then to a transformer that will change the dc charge into an ac charge.
