Una contracción negativa es una construcción verbal negativa que termina en -'nt. Estas son las contracciones negativas comúnmente utilizadas en el habla y en la escritura informal:
aren't, isn't, wasn't, weren't
can't, couldn't, mustn't, shouldn't, won't, wouldn't
didn't, doesn't, don't
hasn't, haven't, hadn't

es como contradecir lo ya antes afirmado por ejemplo:
Negative Contractions

Note that with the verb be, two negative forms are possible, for example:

we are not → we aren't and we're not

In questions, am not is contracted to aren't, for example:

I'm late, aren't I?

sol020102: Contractions of negated auxiliary verbs in Standard English are formed by reducing the negative grammatical particle not to n't, a clitic or suffix which is fused to the root verb form (which is modified in a few cases). The n't may form a separate syllable, as in isn't and wouldn't (which are two-syllable words), or may become part of the preceding syllable, as in the monosyllables don't, aren't and weren't.
