A festival that takes place in my city Trujillo, La Libertad Region, is the Marinera, an event that is celebrated from January 20 to 30.

Its name is given by Abelardo Gamarra, in homage to Miguel Grau; hero of the navy, during the War of the Pacific.

One of the most anticipated activities is the National Marinera Contest, in which dancers from all over the country gather in the city to show their talent and artistic abilities.

In this festivity, women dance barefoot with their scarves that evoke the Inca nobility and paso horses decorate the streets.
