Al usar el estilo indirecto, cambian los tiempos verbales:

Presente simple → pasado simple

Pasado simple → pasado perfecto simple

Etc.

Además, suelen cambiar ciertas expresiones para mantener la coherencia, como por ejemplo:

Last night → the night before

Tomorrow → the next day
