Direct: speech is a sentence in which the exact words spoken are
reproduced in speech

EJ: “I am a little bit nervous.”

Direct: she said, “I am a little bit nervous.”

Indirect: In indirect speech, the actual words of the speaker are
changed.

EJ: “I am a little bit nervous.”

indirect : She said that she was a little bit nervous.
