Movie Rating System

In 1968, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) devised a voluntary rating system for movies. These guidelines replaced the earlier censorship in place called the Hays Code. The goal of this new system was to encourage parents to take a role in deciding what their children should and should not watch. Today’s Classification and Ratings Administration (CARA) gives cautionary warnings to families about the material in movies. These ratings take into consideration various factors such as violence, sexual content, substance abuse, and profane language. The ratings have received much criticism over the years, saying that there is too much emphasis on sexual content and language and not enough on violence. In other words, there are extremely violent movies that children have been allowed to see according to the rating that can have very negative effects on them.

Yes, because the AAP strongly recommends that, whenever possible, you watch audiovisual content with your children. Children's media should be age-appropriate and preferably reinforce family values. However, given the huge amount of media children are exposed to, it is unrealistic for parents to preview everything their children watch, and it may not always be possible to watch the content together.

For me that classification is fine because that way people should choose well so that both parents and their children are chosen with the best category and best training. It would increase the qualification of V = As a child audience (from 0 to 14 years old)

3. Choose a movie that you have seen. What is its rating? (Elija una película que haya visto. ¿Cuál es su calificación?)

I was fascinated by "The Lion King" is one of the great Disney animated films, a title that practically all our readers will have seen, either as children or in the company of their offspring.

The rating is P = All public
