A: Wow! Your family looks like they’re straight out of a movie. They look beautiful! What was the event?
B: [It’s my niece’s wedding.]² The whole family got together to celebrate.
A: Which niece? Your family is so big.
B: My niece Martha. Do you remember her? [She was four years old when she left for the States.]⁴
A: Man! Time flies! Look at her. She’s so tall and pretty. Who are the people in the line waiting to hug her?
B: Let me see. Some of them are her husband’s relatives. There is my sister and my brother-in-law. They are so happy for their daughter. Oh, and the older man and woman in blue are my parents.
A: They all look very happy.
B: They are. [We are a very united family. (Even though they are so far away, they call us and check in with us.)]³ [They helped us a lot financially]⁵ when [our house was damaged by the 2001 earthquake.]⁶
A: It is a blessing to have such a united family. I wish that mine was like that.
