NOTAS:

1. Todas las oraciones en las que el sujeto no es 'I' (= yo) tienen dos formas negativas: una con el auxiliar 'to be' (= a/is/are) y el adverbio 'not', y otra con la correspondiente contracción negativa ('isn't' o 'aren't').

2. (*) Varias oraciones están repetidas: las oraciones 3, 8 y 11 son idénticas, y las oraciones 1 y 6 difieren en solo una palabra, al igual que las oraciones 2 y 7.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

PRESENT CONTINUOUS/PROGRESSIVE

Para formar el 'present continuous' (o 'present progressive') se debe usar el auxiliar 'to be' y la forma '-ing' del verbo principal.

➜ Sujeto + auxiliar AM/IS/ARE + forma '-ing' del verbo principal + complementos

Hay que elegir el auxiliar 'to be' según el sujeto de la oración:

• Sujeto:                  Auxiliar:

I ------------------------ am

he, she, it ----------- is

we, you, they ----- are

En las oraciones afirmativas se pueden usar las contracciones afirmativas:

• Sujeto:                 Contracción:

I ------------------------ I'm

you ------------------- you're

he --------------------- he's

she ------------------- she's

it ----------------------- it's

we -------------------- we're

they ------------------ they're

En las oraciones negativas se pueden usar las contracciones negativas:

• Sujeto:                   Contracción:

I ------------------------ I'm not

he, she, it ----------- isn't

we, you, they ------ aren't

Estas son todas las estructuras:

[̲̅+̲̅] Sujeto + auxiliar am/is/are + forma '-ing' del verbo + complementos

[̲̅-] Sin contracción ➙ Sujeto + auxiliar am/is/are + not + forma '-ing' del verbo + complementos

[̲̅-] Con contracción ➙ Sujeto + contracción ['m not]/isn't/aren't +  forma '-ing' del verbo + complementos

[̲̅?̲̅] Yes/No questions➙ Auxiliar am/is/are + sujeto +  forma '-ing' del verbo + complementos

[̲̅?̲̅] Wh-questionsWh-word + auxiliar am/is/are + sujeto +  forma '-ing' del verbo + complementos

Short answers:

[̲̅+̲̅] Yes, + pronombre sujeto + auxiliar 'to be' (am/is/are)

[̲̅-] No, + pronombre sujeto + contracción negativa (['m not]/isn't/aren't)

Saludos. ✨
