People usually imagine that prison is a terrible place but they don't know the pros of staying there. First: You have free food three times in a day. I'm not kidding about it, 9 of 10 people in a prison are poor. Obviously, the mayority of them need to live and they try to survive comitting crimes. So, free food is the same as don't loose money although the idea sound horrible.
Other advantage is that you have where to sleep at night. Think, there are cases which the street people want to sleep in a bed. If you see it from their perspective, it has certain logic.
¡Listen what is the next benefit that one person said once! Living in the jail is better than work. Yes, that class of people exist too. Evidently, they are not my favourite.

Those could be advantages, but now read the disadvantages:

We can't compare the Stone Age with the Modern Age. Today we have accessibility to a wide variety of important resources to facilitate the life of man. So, to say that life was much simpler for that era is completely false. In the stone age, the only material used is what gives its age a name.
Currently we have the science on our side, the laws and the knowledge necessary to be able to work as a developing or developed society.
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of prison as a punishment?
Human rights would not be established. Therefore, it would be unfair to qualify the level of criminal, to be able to apply the punishments within the prison. So the prisons would have to drive under the replesalies that the punishment attracts.
It should be noted that all criminals have different cases, so they could not qualify as worse.
