Determination is crucial when having a goal. Let's suppose your goal is to perform a play on stage. Well, first of all you have t go to theatre classes, then you have to work hard on it. If you have no determination, you'll leave the classes at the very first obstacle. But, if you have determination, you'll always have that voice in your head telling you it's worth it to go through those obstacles in order to reach your goal.
