Explicación:

Las preposiciones "despite, in spite of, although" son muy similares y ambas significan o hacen referencia a lo mismo, en español, "pese a que..." y su uso no es muy condicionado, sin embargo, se sabe que es más popular el uso de "although" entre hablantes y el uso de "despite" es más formal que el de "spite of".
